Lewis Carl Hamilton (* 7. ledna 1985 Tewin, Hertfordshire, Velká Británie) je britský pilot Formule 1, v současnosti jezdí za McLaren.
Lewis Hamilton se narodil v malém městečku Tewin v hrabství Hertfordshire. Jeho prarodiče z otcovy strany emigrovali do Anglie z karibského ostrova Grenada.
Závodní kariéra
MotokáryHamilton začal závodit na motokárách v roce 1995, když mu bylo osm let. Hned v prvním roce se stal britským šampionem ve třídě Kadet. V roce 1996 a 1997 vyhrál sérii McLaren Mercedes Champions of the Future a od roku 1998 je členem programu na výchovu mladých pilotů McLarenu. V roce 2000, posledním roce v motokárách, se stal mistrem Evropy a vítězem Světového poháru ve třídě Formula A.

Po dlouhodobých spekulacích, kdo bude v sezoně 2007 jezdit po boku dvojnásobného mistra světa Fernanda Alonsa v druhém McLarenu, byl právě Lewis Hamilton potvrzen jako druhý pilot týmu. Tím se stane také prvním závodníkem tmavé pleti, který kdy závodil ve Formuli 1. Ale už nebude prvním černochem, který působil ve Formuli 1, protože v roce 1986 na okruhu v Estorilu v Portugalsku testoval pro Brabham Američan Willy T. Ribbs, dnes známý především ze závodů NASCAR

Prý s auty závodíte už od osmi let, takže už máte neježděno. Ale stejně to musí být super, dostat se tak brzo do F1, ne???
Je to úžasné a pořád mi ještě přopadá, že to není pravda. Někdy před pěti lety by mě to ani ve snu nenapadlo. A fakt, že navíc jezdím zrovna za McLaren, to je... to je prostě něco naprosto neuvěřitelného!
Spolu s fernandem tvoříte nejmladší tým jezdců F1. myslíte, že to může být výhoda?
Pokud jde o mě, mám obrovskou šanci se rychle učit jinak naprosto nedostupnévěci. Mám ideální podmínky. Snažím se co nejrychleji se přiblížit špičce a fernandovi. Pokud jde o tým, tak v něm věk nehraje myslím takovou roli. Fernando je sice mladý, ale velice zkušený, a naví nesmírně talentovaný jezdec.
Jak se vám s přechodem do F1 změnil tréninkový program a tak vůbec.? Je to peklo?
Celé roky jsem si trénink řídil sám. Nikdy jsme neměl nikoho, kdo by mě vedl nebo postrkoval. Mám v sobě nějaký motor, který mě dostrká do tělocvičny nebo donutí dělat věco, do ktarých se mi nechce. V F1 máme ovšem velice přísný režim. Trénuju až pět hodin denně, a to je opravdu dost. Je důležité, abych se správně stravoval, kromě tréninku se seznamuji s vozem a s týmem, takže poslední tři měsíce byly opravdu trochu hustší
Poslyšte, vaše přilba dost nápadně připomíná přilbu Ayrtona Senny. Je to náhoda?
Ayrtona jsem vždycky obdivoval, ale upřímě řečeno, je to náhoda. Když jsem kdysi začal závodit, dostal jsem levnou červenou přilbu, kterou měli všichni ostatní. bylo nás asi 30, a když jsme odstartovali, můj táta mě neviděl. Byl z toho zoufalý, takže rozhodl: koupíme novou přilbu, jakou bys chtěl barvu?
